Goodbye Germany, hello Europe: VGU students leave RUB

On 4th August 2015 the VGU class of 2014 arrived at RUB to spend a one-month-summer school at their sister course in Germany. They were welcomed with a giant breakfast made of typically German components such as rolls, cold cuts, cheese and coffee/tea. One day later the students got familiar with the not so funny aspects of their visit when they participated in a four-day-seminar on 'Wind Energy Facilities' that concluded with a written test. Following this, there were two other block courses held specifically for the VGU students , namely 'Geographic Information Systems in the Field of Environmental Engineering' and an 'Experimental Lab' hosted by the RUB department of mechanics.

However, the trip to Germany wasn't all work for the VGUs: On a financial basis provided by DAAD, the RUB CE Coordination organized a cultural program that featured a guided tour through the impressive Dortmund football stadium (see news from 28th August 2015 'VGU at WESTFALENSTADION'), one day at Movie Park Germany and a football match of Vfl Bochum at the local stadium. The summer school culminated in a joint coffee break at the RUB Q-West restaurant, where we all enjoyed some delicious German cake and coffee specialities before we bid our Vietnamese friends farewell. In the end, one lecture free week offered the students the chance of travelling in and around Germany and to explore Western culture on their own. Have a good trip!
