PO 2015 Master Thesis |
- Precondition to start with your thesis is to fulfill 70 credits at all and 6 passed compulsory courses.
- Please ask for the registration form in the examination office. Keep in mind that the form is only valid for 2 weeks and you have to hand in just in time. Working time is 6 month. You can deliver earliest after 4 month.
- You have to work on your thesis alone and no other but the admitted sources and material is allowed to use.
- Please note that you have to turn 3 paper-based and one electrical version on cd of the thesis to the examination office in by the deadline. Is your delivery date a Saturday or Sunday you are allowed to deliver on Monday.
To finish the course you have to fulfill 120 credits

To calculate the overall grade achieved in the Master’s program a weighted average should be found. Apart from the module grades und credit point scores the grade and credit points achieved with the Master’s thesis should also be included in this calculation. In the calculation of the overall grade the module grades from the compulsory courses are counted with a factor of 1.0, the grades from the compulsory optional courses are counted with a factor of 1.5 and the grade from the Master’s thesis is counted with a factor of 2.0. Decimal values are rounded to the first place after the decimal place.

Registration
The registration for exams is possible via FlexNow.
In case a student does not pass a compulsory course the student is automatically registered for a resit in the next semester.
For compulsory optional courses and optional courses students need to register by themselves.
For registering additional subjects which are not offered directly from the Master Course Computational Engineering you have to contact your lecturer about the same.
A maximum of three examination attemps is allowed.
Cancellation
Students have the possibility to cancel an examination up to two weeks prior to the examination date via FlexNow. You can cancel each subject only twice. In case you do not attend the exam without cancellation you will lose one attempt.
In case you hand in a medical certificate, please make note of
- Print the Proof of inability to take examinations
- Fill in the upper part of the document yourself.
- Let your doctor fill in the lower part of the document.
- The filled document must be received by the examination office directly after the exam, but latest one week after the date of the exam. The receipt stamp of the examination office is decisive. You can hand in your attestation personal during the office hours of the examination office. If the attestation is not received by the examination office in due form and time, the missed exam will be graded with 5,0, respectively ''failed''.
Only attestations of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering Sciences will be acknowledged.
Grade improvement
Students have the possibility to improve the grade of 3 subjects. So please choose the subjects wisely. In case you want to use an improvement attempt you have to register via E-Mail.
Complementary oral examination
In case a written resit has not been passed, a complementary oral examination in the form of an interview is only offered for the second examination attempt.
